Course Content:

Basic husbandry
Basic husbandry. This talk covers what a vet or nurse would need to know about basic rabbit care when speaking with new owners. We touch on indoor and outdoor rabbit care, feeding, behaviour, handling and vaccination.

Hospitalisation and Monitoring
This talk covers the creation of a rabbit service in your practice – how to ensure good biosecurity and a safe comfortable environment for rabbits. We will talk about handling, hospital setup, syringe feeding, monitoring and some basics on anaesthesia.

Neutering
Basic surgery. Neutering makes up the majority of general practice rabbit surgery. In this talk, we aim to show you simple surgical techniques that work. We’ll work through some straightforward techniques that make surgery easier and safer, plus the relevant surgical anatomy and some pointers on analgesia.

Nutrition
In this talk, we go through nutrition in more detail. How to construct a rabbit diet and explain this to owners, the effects of good and bad nutrition on rabbit health and disease, as well as covering the effect of diet on urinary health.

The course each contain a video lecture followed by a multiple choice test. Upon completion a personalised certificate will be issued.

About the Provider

LagoLearn was launched by Jo Hinde RVN and Ivan Crotaz MRCVS, in 2016, to help general practice vets and nurses work to a good standard of rabbit care. We teach straightforward techniques that can be applied in a 1st opinion environment. We teach & encourage teamwork between veterinary surgeons and veterinary nurses for the best possible patient outcome. Jo’s special interest is in medical and surgical nursing care for rabbits. Ivan has special interests in rabbit anaesthesia and was one of the veterinary consultants behind the design of the v-gel® airway products.
