This module will provide you with the knowledge you need to perform a phacoemulsification procedure, for the treatment of cataracts in rabbits. This is a one-off course but can also be taken as a bundle with other Ophthalmology courses.
In this course, you will learn the process for performing phacoemulsification surgery including:
Requirements - veterinarian and anesthetist expertise, and materials required.
Preparation - pre-medication, site preparation, and restraint.
Procedure - corneal incisions, lens content removal, intraocular implant insertion, irrigation/aspiration, closure, and reformation of the anterior chamber.
Aftercare - analgesia, antimicrobial therapy, topical antibiotics, and wound protection.
Outcomes - related risks.
