This module looks at pathogenesis, diagnosis, treatment, prevention and outcomes of vitamin C deficiency in guinea pigs, including:
Cause – lack of vitamin C in the diet.
Signs – paresis, paralysis, malocclusion, pain, hemorrhage.
Diagnosis – history, physical examination, radiography.
Treatment – supplementation with vitamin C, orally or parenterally.
Prognosis – guarded depending on severity and age of the animal.
